Enjoy this informative newsletter. Articles with photos are from the Pacific Region membership. An excellent article on Roundup and Preen is from a Washington state member. Or check out the DIY Snowflake from recycling plastic rings. Learn more bout turmeric or maybe the West Coast Monarch Movement or the Pacific Region Bird: The Owl. Excellent reading

Do you have a passion for the environment and your Bellevue Parks? Applications are being accepted until November 30 for a free Bellevue Parks & Community Services Master Naturalist training program
– designed to build a group of dedicated community volunteers trained in environmental awareness and stewardship.
Bellevue Master Naturalists learn about our area’s ecology, geology, wildlife, plant life, cultural history, wetlands, forests, and streams from professors, scientists, local professionals, and park rangers. Master
Naturalists will focus on restoration and conservation efforts, and will help share this passion by working with and educating their community.
Over the course of this 12-week training program, volunteers will meet with experts in lecture, workshop, and field-trip settings to cover various ecological topics. Trainings occur Tuesday and Thursday evenings,
5:30–8 p.m. at the Mercer Slough Environmental Education Center (1625 118th Ave SE, Bellevue) from January 23 to April 9, 2020. The program is free with a volunteer commitment of 100 hours of service.
You are subscribed to Lake Hills Greenbelt, Lewis Creek Park Visitor Center, and/or Mercer Slough Environmental Education Center web page alerts. This information has recently been
updated, and is now available.

April is soon approaching and with it the great opportunity to display your favorite fun photographs at the Pacific Region Photo Phundraiser Contest on April 27-30, 2020 at the Pacific Region Convention being held at The Oregon Garden in Silverton, Oregon.
At the same time you are helping support Pacific Region Garden Clubs, your entries could win some prize money. Just a reminder that the deadline for entries is March 31, 2020.
There have been inquiries regarding bringing the entries to the convention. Entries will be accepted (along with signed entry form, applicable entry fee and a signed release and contact
information). If your photo is a winner, the signed release is necessary for your entry to be published by Pacific Region.
The attached forms should bemailed to the address below along with a postage paid envelope for return at the end of convention. You will need to mail them via USPS or UPS; packaged
to avoid damage along with the return envelope. All checks are to be made payable to PRGC (NO CASH). Please encourage members to enter when they are unable to attend. The entries must be received before the March 31 deadline. Upon receipt, an
e-mail confirmation will be sent to you.
No matter the season, opportunities for fun photos are all around you. You don’t need any special equipment, just your point and shoot camera or even smart phone will do the job. Keep
an eye out for possibilities and enjoy.
